First Day of Law School 2005

Yesterday was the first day of law school! We all take the same classes first semester: Contacts, Civil Procedure, Criminal Law, Torts, and "Legal Research & Writing."

First Day of Law School
Feeling very "Legally Blond"

The entire class is divided into "sections" A-L. I'm in Section B, and we have all 5 classes together. For Contracts (with Professor Leslie) and Legal Research & Writing (with Professor Moran) our small section is alone. Civil Procedure (with Professor Ortiz) we take with Section I, so we're getting to know them better than most. Criminal Law (with Dean Jeffries) and Torts (with Professor Abraham) we take in large lecture halls with multiple sections.

The law school is beautiful, but my favorite place by far is the library.

Law School Orientation 2005

I'm finally on email now that orientation was yesterday. We met everyone in the section and I like most of the people. Everything is going pretty well so far except I have a ton of homework already.

They called us for directory pictures during our lunch break- no pressure that's just the picture tied to our email for the next three years!

Some kid had a nervous breakdown during "the name game." It was like a horrible train wreck. I mean I was a little nervous too, but he completely lost his cool and even said "screw you all" to our entire section. It was really painful to watch in a George Costanza way.

Speaking of the name game, we have a ridiculous number of "J" names in our section: Jane, Jeremy Jerry, Jim, Joe, Jon, Josh, Josh, Julie, Justin, Justin. It's going to make learning everyone's names an interesting challenge.

We also have three Australian guys in our section this semester: Matt, Paul, and Adam. They're doing a semester abroad as part of their undergraduate Australian legal degrees. Sounds cheaper than our system!

Friends Over 2005

I had Tommy, Akure, and Seth over my apartment for drinks last night. We were a little nervous about Orientation today.... more on that tomorrow. We got our section assignments on Friday and we're all in different sections which is a little sad. You spend a lot of time with your section.

Danielle Visits 2005

My childhood friend who I haven't seen in years visited yesterday. She's been living in Taiwan for the last four years since we graduated college. She was driving up from Florida to New Jersey, and stopped in to see me sort of-not really-on the way. It was so great to see her!

South Street Brewery 2005

A bunch of us that are already in Charlottesville emailed each other to go out last night. We went to the downtown mall, technically right off the mall to South Street Brewery. Lots of fun!

Goodbye Crystal City 2005

Poor Dad. I was not as packed as I thought I was. He spent a lot of time helping me finish pack and today he helped the movers get my stuff out. That's my banana plant I've managed to keep alive for 4 years so far. Let's go buddy.

Goodbye Party 2005

Last week was my last week of work! I've been at the same place for the last three years so it's a big change to leave and I was a little sad. Luckily my DC friends and a few people from work met me for a last day happy hour goodbye party.
